Singapore was the perfect place for me to discuss how piracy has changed the way we consume media. Not only is it one of the places that link the Eastern and Western worlds, but it also has a long history of piracy, both on the sea and online!
Back in 2016, the world was finally acknowledging that movies, TV, and music worked better when they were accessible. In the past, these industries had relied on a “scarcity” model. Few people acknowledge the role that P2P sharing had in bringing about this shift. Here, I discuss how that came about, and my part in leading this revolution.
When I gave this discussion, online piracy was in decline. Since then, this trend has continued. That’s because the industry was forced to improve in the face of this new avenue. And piracy has benefited industries in other ways, as I elaborate in the video:
